Notice of Public Hearing

Pursuant to the provisions of Title 24 V.S.A. Chapter 117 and the Town of Mendon Zoning Regulations, the Mendon Selectboard has scheduled a public hearing and will conduct a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday June 11, 2008 at the Mendon Town Offices located at 34 U. S. Route 4 in the town of Mendon.  The purpose of the hearing is to afford interested persons an opportunity to express their views on the following:

A draft comprehensive re-write of the Mendon Zoning Regulations affecting the geographic area of the town of Mendon.  The draft regulations include:  Article I:  General Provisions; Article II:  Establishment of Zoning Districts and Maps; Article III:  Zoning District Regulations; Article IV:  General Regulations; Article V:  Site Plan and Conditional Use Review; Article VI: Use Specific Regulations; Article VII:  Sign Regulations – Outdoor Advertising; Article VIII:  Planned Unit Developments; Article IX:  Municipal Appointments; Article X:  Zoning Permits; Article XI:  Appeals; Article XII:  variances; Article XII Violations and Enforcements; Article XIV:  Public Hearings; Article XV:  recording Requirements; and Article XVI: Definitions.

Pursuant to the provisions of Title 24 V.S.A. Chapter 117, Section 4415, the Mendon Selectboard intends to adopt Interim Zoning Regulations on June 11, 2008 immediately following the Public Hearing as an emergency measure to protect public health, safety and general welfare and provide for orderly physical and economic growth.  The Selectboard also intends to adopt in its entirety Section 316 Flood Hazard District of the Interim Zoning Regulations in order to comply with the National Flood Insurance Program and its revised Flood Plane Management Regulations.  The Interim Zoning Regulations upon adoption by the Selectboard will go into effect immediately and be effective for two years or until Permanent Zoning Bylaws are adopted pursuant to the provisions of Title 24 V.S.A. Chapter 117.

A copy of the draft zoning regulations is available at the Town Clerk’s Office at 34 US Route 4, Mendon, Vermont, Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  The office is closed Friday.
