9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Barbecue and Open Fishing
12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
At the
Prior-Dark-Bretell Pond
on Journey’s End in Mendon
Food, Fishing and Fun for all ages whether you are 1 or 101 sponsored by the Mendon Recreation Committee. The fishing derby will be followed by a barbecue from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with open fishing. Rules will be posted at the event. Prizes will be awarded by age group and size of fish. All kids will receive a prize.
This is free fishing day for the State of Vermont so no license is required.
You will need to bring:
fishing pole, gear, & bait, lawn chairs, bug spray, sun screen…and don't forget the camera.
Barbecue from Noon to 2:00 pm:
The Town of Mendon Recreation Committee will be hosting a barbecue from Noon to 2:00 pm. If you would like to volunteer to help, please contact Tracy Adams at 773-7565.
Directions to the Prior-Dark-Bretell Pond:
From the Rutland side of Mendon-
Travel east on Route 4, past Sugar and Spice Restaurant, cross over Mendon Brook and Journeys End will be on your left. Turn left onto Journeys End and go the end of the road. You will see the pond on your left.
From the Killington side of Mendon-
Travel west on Route 4, past the Econo Lodge, and Journeys End will be on your right. Turn right onto Journeys End and go to the end of the road. You will see the pond on your left.
Parking:
Parking is limited so car pooling is encouraged. You may also park at the town office and arrange with friends and neighbors to carpool from there.
