The Town of Mendon Constable and the town’s contract Sheriff will be taking part in the Vermont May 2017 Click it or Ticket Campaign through aggressive traffic enforcement within the town borders. Nearly 40,000 people lost their lives in fatal motor vehicle crashes in 2016. Seatbelt usage in Vermont dropped in 2016 while the national average increased to 90%. Last year approximately one-half of the fatal crash victims here in Vermont were unbelted at the time of the crash.
Seat belt usage has been shown to be one of the most effective ways to help decrease fatalities during traffic crashes. The 2017 Click it or Ticket enforcement period will run from May 22nd through June 4th. This is a national campaign to help reduce the number of fatal crashes in the United States.
Always fasten your seatbelt while travelling in your vehicle. You may be saving your own life and belting up will help you avoid a ticket…remember, it’s the law in Vermont to buckle up when travelling in a vehicle. Mendon’s enforcement efforts will be aggressive in the hope that we will help save the lives of our residents and visitors. So always BUCKLE UP…IT’S THE LAW!
